Due to the recent success of the session held on the 5th of December by the Ministry of Education who invited the leadership of The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) to address an audience consisting of Deputy Principals and High Academics across the island, THASL’s leadership was again invited to speak at a second session addressing an audience of Principals and Deputy Principals of schools nationwide, on the 26th of December at the Ministry of Education.
The audience comprised of Principals and Deputy Principals from across the island, and the speakers chosen to represent THASL were, Mr Sanath Ukwatte (President of THASL & Chairman of the Mount Lavinia Group of Hotels), Mr Anura Lokuhetty (Chairman of Red Apple Travels and Holidays Ltd), Mr Nirmo Thambapillai (General Manager of the Hill Club, Nuwara Eliya) and Mr Amal Nanayakkara, all veteran hoteliers, counting over 3 decades of immense contribution to the growth of the hotel industry in Sri Lanka.
The main focus of this meeting was to expose the nature and character of the hospitality sector, how immensely it contributes to the annual GDP of Sri Lanka and to encourage the youth on the availability of job opportunities in this fast-growing industry.
THASL will continue to aggressively increase awareness of the opportunities available in the hospitality sector, and will support any initiatives taken to improve the training and development aspect of the hospitality sector in this island nation.
